Zondo Appointed Constitutional Court Judge

On Tuesday the presidency released the news that President Jacob Zuma has appointed Judge Raymond Zondo, currently a judge of the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria, to the Constitutional Court.

Zondo began his career as a judge in the Labour Court in 1997 before moving on to be Judge President of the Labour Appeal Court and Labour Court in 2000, a position he held for 10 years. This will not be his first stint at the Constitutional Court either. In November 2011 he was appointed as an acting judge for the court for six months until May this year.

Zuma said in a statement, “We wish Justice Zondo well in the exercise of this important duty to the country and the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa.”

Zondo will begin his term on 1 September.
