SA Social Media Landscape Report 2012 [Infographic]

Social Media Landscape

Technology market researchers World Wide Worx and information analysts Fuseware recently released the results of the South African Social Media Landscape 2012 study, and the results seem to indicate that South African corporates are embracing social media as they follow their customers.

The study revealed that 95% of the major brands surveyed had some form of social media strategy, but they just aren’t finding it as effective as hoped. World Wide Worx managing director Arthur Goldstuck said, “The survey shows that corporate South Africa has woken up to social media, but it hasn’t yet figured out how to dress for the role.”

Of the companies surveyed, it was found that they were mainly using social networks based on hype rather than figures. Mxit is the most popular social media platform in SA, but out of 61 major brands only five were making use of it.

With the release of the report, the companies have also released this infographic with the highlights of just what is going on in South Africa’s social media landscape.
