Malema to Address Mineworkers in ‘Revolution’

Friends of the Youth League (FYL) have invited expelled ANC Youth League president Julius Malema to address mineworkers at the Meloding Stadium in Virginia, in the Free State, on Tuesday.

The FYL said, “This is unashamedly part of the mining revolution which will make all mines ungovernable until mine bosses have agreed to a minimum wage of R12 500 per month for all mineworkers and ultimately nationalisation of mines.”

The last time Malema tried to speak to mineworkers in support of their strike at a mine near Rustenberg, police escorted him out of the North West town. This followed comments he made to mineworkers urging them to make the mines “ungovernable.” As a result, Malema is now being investigated by the Hawks after trade union Solidarity filed criminal charges of incitement to violence against him.
