Internet Defense League Fights for Internet Freedom

An organisation called the Internet Defense League is building a network to help fight against legislation and other measures that are on the horizon that may threaten Internet freedom.

The group behind the organisation is Fight for the Future, a non-profit that claims to be “working to expand the internet’s power for good.” Fight for the Future helped build the tools that allowed websites to participate in the SOPA blackouts in January and hopes to use these tools and others through the Internet Defense League to defend the internet.

Fight for the Future co-founder Tiffany Cheng says that the Internet Defense League currently has members from all walks of life, including activists, web companies and people like Alexis Ohanian, the founder of Reddit.

The organisation will officially launch in June and more information will be made public.
