India’s AirPod: Concept Air-Powered Car

Indian auto company Tata seems to be sending a message out to other car makers that they can keep their biodiesel and hydrogen because they’ve got something completely different. They’re calling it the AirPod and it runs on compressed air.

The concept vehicle, a small three-seat model, holds a specially created engine which is driven by the pressure of air stored in a tank on board. This tank is filled through an external pump or by drawing in air while in motion with a secondary electric motor.

While it doesn’t sound extraordinary, the vehicle is able to reach a top speed of 43 miles per hour, just by using a little air.
