Grammy Museum unveils ‘Golden Gods: The History of Heavy Metal’

The Grammy Museum in Los Angeles recently unveiled its newest exhibit: Golden Gods: The History of Heavy Metal which takes a look at the origins of the heavy metal genre.

The exhibit opened in April and features a vast collection of memorabilia that has never been seen before. These artefacts range from rare manuscripts and instruments to costumes and original artwork from the various heavy metal eras.

Metal was born underground but has grown over the past 5 decades to become a popular genre of music with an array of subgenres of its own such as industrial metal, stoner metal, grunge, power metal, progressive metal and more.

While the exhibit will only encompass a fraction of the fascinating history of this genre of music, it gives fans a chance to learn about and see bands in a new light until it ends in February 2013.
