College Student Texts About Quitting Texting – While Driving Off Cliff

For those of you who still believe it’s perfectly safe to use your phone while driving, an Alabama college student provides another cautionary tale in the dangers of texting while driving after he drove off a cliff.

The story sounds like it’s straight out of a movie but as they say; life is often stranger than fiction. Chance Both, the student in question, miraculously survived the accident and after six months of recovery he is finally able to talk about the experience.

Seconds before he went over the cliff, Both texted, “I need to quit texting, because I could die in a car accident.” He wasn’t far wrong. His plunge off the edge resulted in a broken neck, crushed face, fractured skull and various brain injuries. Both was in a serious enough condition that doctors had to resuscitate him three times.

Texting while driving has seen increased penalties around the world in recent months, but lately law enforcement in the United States have also been looking at the dangers of texting while walking.

Law enforcement officials believe that distracted walkers can cause accidents and they have a few cases to back them up. In one case, a distracted man fell onto train tracks and was knocked unconscious. In another, a man nearly walked into a brown bear. Both men survived their incidents through what could be called pure luck.
